Installation
Go to the Install/Update page and follow the instructions there.
Running the Provider Directory
Your program will be called "Children's" in your menu. Simply
select the application from the menu.
Finding Providers
There are four different ways to locate providers: using the alphabet keys, searching on criteria, searching by keyword, and looking
at your list of shortcuts.
The alphabet keys are located near the top of the screen. Each key
contains two letters of the alphabet. Select the key for the starting letter of the last name of the provider you want to locate.
For example, if you are looking for William Granger, choose the gh button, which will give you a list of all the providers
whose last names start with either "G" or "H".
Press the menu button on your Palm, go to the Tools menu, and select Search. Tap the field on which you wish to search before
attempting to enter any criteria. You may search on multiple criteria, if you like. The program is not case-sensitive, so you may enter lower
or upper case letters.
- Press Cancel at any time to take you out of this view
- Press Search to initiate your provider find
For example, if you are looking for a doctor whose last name was similar to Smith,
but you can't remember exactly what it was, enter "SM" into the last name field, and press Search.
Or, perhaps you are looking for a provider with the first name of Sue but you can't remember the last name. Enter "sue" into the
first name field, and press Search.
Or, perhaps you are attempting to locate a cardiologist. Select "Cardiology" from the list of available specialties, and press
Search.
Press the menu button on your Palm, go to the Tools menu, and
select Keyword Search. This will enable you to search by a keyword or phrase. You may enter a partial keyword or phrase, as well, although
entering multiple keywords that do not appear sequentially within the data will result in no providers being located.
- Press Cancel at any time to take you out of this view
- Press Search to initiate your provider find
For example, entering "f.a.a.c.p." will show you a list of all providers who list "F.A.A.C.P." in their records, but it
will not show anyone who has their data listed without the periods and has "FAACP".
Or, entering "gyn onc" will show you a list of all providers who have listed "gyn onc" as a specialty, but it
will not show anyone who has listed their specialty as "Gynecologic Oncology".
Select the Shortcuts button at the end of the alphabet keys. This will bring up your list of previously selected shortcuts (see
Shortcuts for more information)
Viewing Provider Data
After you have located the provider you want (see Finding Providers for more information), click on the
provider's name to bring up his or her data. The provider's name, specialty, phone number, and picture will be displayed, as available (picture
will not display if you have turned off that option).
In order to view additional information, click more (under the photo). This will enable you to see such information as address,
additional phone numbers, certifications, and notes that you have taken (see Notes for more information)
While viewing additional information, click the right and left arrow buttons to move from screen to screen within that provider's data.
When you no longer wish to view the additional information, select less.
While the provider window is still open, you may still click on another provider name in the main window in order to scroll through a listing of
doctors. Or, you may use either the rocker button/up & down arrows or your scroll button on your Palm to scroll.
When you are finished viewing data for providers, you may close the window by clicking on the X.
Notes
You have the ability to add and edit notes about particular providers, so you can keep track of any additional information not already listed.
Open the profile of the provider to whom you wish to add notes (see
Viewing Provider Data for more information)
- Click on more
- Using the arrow keys, scroll through the additional data until you reach the notes display
- Click on the area where the notes display, and then add your note
- Choose Save Changes when done or select Cancel to leave this view
Changing the Provider Profile View
You may customize the default profile view by deciding how much information

When this view is selected, the base amount of data will be displayed, exactly as outlined in Viewing
Provider Data.
