Finding Providers
There are four different ways to locate providers: using the alphabet keys, searching on criteria, searching by keyword, and looking
at your list of favorites.
The alphabet keys are located near the top of the screen. Each key
contains two letters of the alphabet. Select the key for the starting letter of the last name of the provider you want to locate.
For example, if you are looking for John Smith, choose the st button, which will give you a list of all the providers
whose last names start with either "S" or "T".
Select the binocular icon at the bottom of the screen. Tap the field
on which you wish to search before attempting to enter any criteria. You may search on multiple criteria, if you like.
The program is not case-sensitive, so you may enter lower or upper case letters.
- Press Cancel at any time to take you out of this view
- Press Clear to erase all criteria you have already selected, in order to begin again
- Press Search to initiate your provider find
For example, if you are looking for a doctor whose last name was
similar to Smith, but you can't remember exactly what it was, enter "SM" into the last name field, and press Search.
Or, perhaps you are looking for a provider with the first name of Sue but you can't remember the last name. Enter "sue" into the
first name field, and press Search.
Or, perhaps you are attempting to locate a cardiologist. Select "Cardiology" from the list of available specialties, and press
Search.
Select the icon of the binoculars with the key at the bottom of the screen.
This will enable you to search by a keyword or phrase. You may enter a partial keyword or phrase, as well, although entering multiple keywords
that do not appear sequentially within the data will result in no providers being located.
- Press Cancel at any time to take you out of this view
- Press Search to initiate your provider find
For example, entering "f.a.a.c.p." will show you a list of all providers who list "F.A.A.C.P." in their records, but it
will not show anyone who has their data listed without the periods and has "FAACP".
Or, entering "gyn onc" will show you a list of all providers who have listed "gyn onc" as a specialty, but it
will not show anyone who has listed their specialty as "Gynecologic Oncology".
Select the icon on the bottom of the screen showing two faces. This will bring up
your list of previously selected favorites (see Favorites for more information)
Changing the Search Results View
There are two ways to display your results when searching for
providers (see Finding Providers for more information on searching). You will always see provider names on
the left-hand side (or as much of the name as space permits). On the right-hand side, you may choose to display the provider's primary
specialty, or you may instead display the primary phone number. You may not display both at the same time.
- Select View from the bottom corner of the screen
- Select List Info from the menu
- Select Specialty
- Select View from the bottom corner of the screen
- Select List Info from the menu
- Select Phone
Viewing Provider Data
After you have located the provider you want (see Finding Providers for more information), click on the
provider's name to bring up his or her data. The provider's name, specialty, phone number, and picture will be displayed, as available (picture
will not display if you have turned off that option).
In order to view additional information, click more (under the
photo). This will enable you to see such information as address, additional phone numbers, certifications, and notes that you have taken (see
Notes for more information)
While viewing additional information, click the right and left arrow buttons to move from screen to screen within that provider's data.
When you no longer wish to view the additional information, select less.
While the provider window is still open, you may still click on another provider name in the main window in order to scroll through a
listing of doctors. Or, you may use the rocker button/up & down arrows on your Pocket PC to scroll.
When you are finished viewing data for providers, you may close the window by clicking on the X.
Notes
You have the ability to add and edit notes about particular providers,
so you can keep track of any additional information not already listed.
- Open the profile of the provider to whom you wish to add notes (see Viewing Provider Data for
more information)
- Click on more
- Using the arrow keys, scroll through the additional data until you reach the notes display
- Click on the area where the notes display, and then add your note
- Choose Save Notes when done
Changing the Provider Profile View
There are three options available for changing the display of the
provider profiles (see Viewing Provider Data for more information). These options include the ability
to display photos as available, to automatically display the additional information for each provider, and defaulting to displaying the notes you have
added for each provider (see Notes for additional information). You may choose any combination of these
options at the same time.
When this choice is turned on, provider profiles will display automatically as if you had just selected the more button.
You may still use the less button to hide the information, as usual.
- Select View from the bottom corner of the screen
- Select Profile from the menu
- Select More Info View by Default
When this choice is turned on, provider profiles will display automatically as if you had just selected the more button
and then scrolled through using the arrow keys to reach the provider notes. You may still use the less button to hide the
information, as usual.
- Select View from the bottom corner of the screen
- Select Profile from the menu
- Select Show Notes by Default
When this choice is turned off, provider profiles will not display photos on any records. Also, all provider photos in memory will be
deleted. This option saves memory. Turning this choice on allows photos to appear, although you may need to Update before you see them
(see Updating for more information).
- Select View from the bottom corner of the screen
- Select Profile from the menu
- Select Show Profile Photo
Favorites
Favorites are shortcuts to frequently viewed providers' records.
You may access your favorites by clicking on the icon on the bottom of the screen showing two faces.
While you have the provider's data screen showing, click on the icon of the single
head with a glowing yellow circle next to the forehead.
While you have the provider's data screen showing, click on the icon of the
single head with the red line through it.
